December 2007:

Seasonable Season’s Greetings from Finland!

Season's Creetings without Snow

Half of our country has no snow, which is an abnormal situation here.

The climate is changing. Maybe we have to change our ways too.

I wish You a peaceful and refreshing Holiday Season!

After US the Flood…

After US The Flood!

Avaaz.org reports from Bali:
Climate negotiations in Bali are in crisis. Things were looking good till now: near-consensus on a delicate deal, including 2020 targets for rich countries, in return for which China and the developing world would do their part over time. IPCC scientists say such targets are needed to prevent catastrophe. But Japan, the US and Canada are banding together to wreck the deal, and the rest of the world is starting to waver…

If you are not happy with this, sign Avaaz and  Al Gore petitions.

UN Climate Change Conference starts in Bali

Global warming

UN Climate Change Conference started with good news. Australia’s new Prime Minister Kevin Rudd ratified the Kyoto Protocol as his first official act. The move by Rudd, leaves the United States as the only advanced economy yet to ratify the protocol.

The road ahead is harsh and challenging. As the Climate Action Network puts it: Industrialised countries need to reduce greenhouse pollution by 20% by 2020, and by 80% by the middle of the century, if we are to combat climate change.

You can follow the Bali Conference for example via Bali Climate Change Conference Blog.
