Lesser Spotted Woodpecker and Willow Tit

Lesser Spotted Woodpecker and Willow Tit.

Birdlife Britain RSPB has invented excellent event for all nature lovers, it is called Big Garden Birdwatch, and it has been organized regularly since 1979.

Idea is simple. Settle down for a hour, watch and record the highest number of each bird species you see in your garden, or local park (not flying over) at any one time, on either Saturday 30 or Sunday 31 January 2010.

Bike, bus or walk, it’s Mobility week

Nordic walking

The most widespread event on sustainable mobility, the European Mobility Week (from 16 to 22 September 2009) concentrates this year on climate issues.

The 2009 campaign theme “Improving City Climates”  underlines the importance of local level efforts to tackle climate change and improve quality of life through the promotion of alternative transport modes to the car such as cycling, walking, and public transport as well as clever car use schemes such car-sharing and car-pooling.

And of course you must not forget Nordic walking!

Let’s go for a row!

Camping at the Lake

We have made almost every summer a camping trip with a big rowing boat called the church boat. This kind of boat has about seven pairs of oars, and there is enough room for 2-4 families, lots of equipment, foodstuff and beverages too! It is nice to travel without motor, noise or hurry. Camping with a rowing boat is cool even when it is hot. Water will beat the extra heat, and wind will keep mosquitos away.
