Seeking sustainable relief – check dry toilet

Drytoilet - Swift relief for a poor water supply

The lack of proper sanitation kills every day about 5000 children. 2,6 billion people have never used proper toilet. In many parts of the world people suffer water shortage, and the climate change will even worsen the water crisis. So it will not make much sense to build water closets in the dry parts of the world.

The Global Dry Toilet Association of Finland has a dream. A dry dream: To make dry toilets an essential part of sustainable development, thus securing clean waters and a healthy environment for future generations. Their mission is to introduce functioning dry toilets together with controlled management of toilet waste and to make people aware of the benefits of dry sanitation

The 3rd International Dry Toilet Conference will be held in the middle of August 2009 in Finland in Tampere University of Technology. See you there!
