UN Climate Change Conference starts in Bali

UN Climate Change Conference started with good news. Australia’s new Prime Minister Kevin Rudd ratified the Kyoto Protocol as his first official act. The move by Rudd, leaves the United States as the only advanced economy yet to ratify the protocol.

The road ahead is harsh and challenging. As the Climate Action Network puts it: Industrialised countries need to reduce greenhouse pollution by 20% by 2020, and by 80% by the middle of the century, if we are to combat climate change.

You can follow the Bali Conference for example via Bali Climate Change Conference Blog.
